the gulf frittilaries are taking over! they have been laying eggs all over the notive passion vine I planted in the front courtyard. Caterpillars of al sizes are devouring the vines and clinking to the cedar siding around the doorway- we have five chrysalli there right now. Lots of zebras too -- but haven't seen their caterpillars yet.

I saw a beat-up orange one that I think is a Gulf Frittilary acting weird like it wanted to get in the window. As I watched, it landed on the passion flower vine near the window, and curved its abdomen and deposited a little yellow egg. Right after, I watched another lay an egg. Looking carefully, I saw lots of eggs and several little spiny blue caterpillars. Also saw a couple of zebras.
